NPR reports Deepwater Horizon may be dumping oil into the Gulf at 10 times the originally estimated rate, suggesting the spill has already far outpaced the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster.

–Congress is investigating and federal regulators are coming out the other side looking really bad.

–Obama is expected to address the spill in midday remarks.

–Our colleague David Von Drehle has a nice piece on Blanche Lincoln’s re-election effort. A taste:

She is now, in a sense, a 20th century politician in a 21st century pickle, a skilled navigator of the midstream at a time when technology has made it easier to organize around ideological extremes. She has fallen into the trap of the overmoderate politician. By trying to make everyone a little bit happy, Lincoln may not have made anyone happy enough. She’s too Democratic for Republicans, but not enough for the Democratic base.

–Adam Smith writes up an elucidating Q&A with Charlie Crist, and finds he’s having fun.

–Despite being running way behind in the polls, South Carolina state rep. and gubernatorial hopeful Nikki Haley is getting a heap of attention. Sarah Palin and Jenny Sanford are campaigning for her today (though not at the same events.)

–New York Governor-elect Attorney General Andrew Cuomo will reportedly announce the worst kept secret in politics on May 25.

–Jonathan Adler is impressed by Tim Pawlenty’s court picks.

–Worth mentioning as a followup to my post about ratings agencies: Mike Konczal explains a lingering issue. Specially designated ratings agencies are currently protected from liability even if they knowingly mislead customers. The House bill strikes this protection, while the Senate bill does not.

–Michael already said it, but seriously, read his cover piece on Bair, Schapiro and Warren.

–And the Obama media filter casts a wide net.

What did I miss?
