"L is for Loser! And that's you, there, you cowardly Republicans, crappin' your drawers over Khalid Sheik Mohammed comin' to NYC!"

    • 1.1

And palininatowel, will there be extra security when KSM is tried? Answer: yes. Thus, fears of a terrorist incident would seem to be warranted . . . . but hey, nothing screams courage like risking other people's lives . . . .

    • 1.2

spob, how many other terrorists have been tried in NYC?

    • 1.3

oh, ok palininatowel, let's roll the dice some more . . . .
      .
are you seriously contending that a trial of KSM isn't risky from a terrorism standpoint? Tell you what, let's see Obama, Holder or any of the Dem senators supporting this nonsense will say that.

    • 1.4

spob, you didn't answer the question.
      .
Have terrorism suspects been tried in NYC before?

    • 1.5

the WTC guys, the African bombing guys and some others. So what? My answer presumed that. Sorry if that escaped you.

    • 1.6

Thanks, spob. And remember all the terrorist attacks during those trials?

    • 1.7

So let's roll the dice when we don't have to . . . . ok gotcha. Since security will be extra heavy to deal with the threat, it simply cannot be argued that the trial of KSM doesn't up the risk.
      .
And that's not even getting into the risks of another Lynne Stewart.

    • 1.8

Spob-Seriously, what are you so afraid of? Our system of justice can handle this. I think the terrorist win when we coward in fear. That is after all what they want that we are so afraid of them that we lose our balls at the thought of them. Stand strong. I'm with you. If our troops and law enforcement can catch em. We can take it from there.

    • 1.9

It must be Crap Your Pants Friday on Swampland.

  • 2

They're just holding him to his word. You know, the oceans slowing their rise and the world beginning to cool . . . .
    .
"Eric Holder told me that there's no speedy trial issue with trying KSM. I am a Con Law prof, and I agree with him."

  • 3

"Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is innocent until proven guilty."

    • 3.1

Congrats, spob! That's the greatest deference I have ever seen you pay to our Constitution and our founding principles!
      .
You seem very afraid of the very values upon which our nation was founded...

    • 3.2

German soldiers posing as US servicemen were shot as spies during WWII. Last I checked, genius, the relevant portions of the Constitution hadn't changed since then. I don't think KSM deserves any more than that.

  • 4

What the hell? I thought we're making fun of greenpeace, why do we care about where KSM is tried?

  • 5

    And now my contribution:

Can I see the documentation of where that mask was made?

  • 6

But hey palininatowel, this decision was soooooo good that they announced it on a Friday when Obama's not even in town.
    ,
By the way, did anyone else notice how our patriotic Obama didn't defend the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What a guy.

    • 6.1

you're such an imbecile. you're saying that obama should go to Japan to boast about how much we western cowboys loved nuking the sh*t out of Japan? I mean you don't even have to like diplomacy to understand that this serves no goal. The japs don't even have an army. You neocons never cease to surprise people.

    • 6.2

Defending something is different than boasting about it.
      .
And lupercal, "japs" is considered a slur.

    • 6.3

for the record, i do think bringing ksm slightly increases the risk of terrorism within 3 blocks of the event but for different reasons than your contusioned mind thinks. It's not any different than when the president or a foreign official visits a locale. the higher profile.

    • 6.4

Defending mass murder...you seriously want the president to defend mass murder that took place 60+ years ago?

    • 6.5

apologies to those offended. But it makes very little sense for "our patriotic Obama didn't defend the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki". Im frankly worried about the wiring of your brain

    • 6.6

yogi, it was not mass murder, it was the prosecution of a defensive war.

    • 6.7

" .. it was the prosecution of a defensive war. ..

      So, it is OK.
      Oh, yes.
That reminds me that we are in Iraq fighting a defensive war. As someone said, we have to get them there - even while they are still toddlers - before they get us here later. Never mind that we have justification for being there - just the joy of imperial carnage and plunder ...

Now, if someone tries to pull that defensive number on us ...

    • 6.8

well since when was it accepted military warfare norm to nuke two entire towns full of thousands upon thousands of civilians? If any other country had done it, they would be tried on international courts. We weren't because we came out victorious, we ended up the strongest nation on the planet right after the war, and no country on the planet had an appetite for years upon years of international wrangling when 90% of their territories were destroyed.
      .
A lot of people have tried to move on. We've found all kind of justifications to learn to live with ourselves. Please, don't give me this 'patriotic' bullsh*t.

    • 6.9

By the way, did anyone else notice how our patriotic Obama didn't defend the nuking of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. What a guy.

Why would he or anyone defend it? It is indefensible, not just on moral grounds (specifically attacking a civilian population), but also on military grounds. The United States Strategic Bombing Survey filed on July 1st, 1946, concluded:

Based on a detailed investigation of all the facts, and supported by the testimony of the surviving Japanese leaders involved, it is the Survey's opinion that certainly prior to 31 December 1945, and in all probability prior to 1 November 1945, Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped, even if Russia had not entered the war, and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated.

There was never a good reason, real or imagined, to drop the atomic bombs. It was hastily done to justify the expenditure of the Manhattan Project and as political cover in case the public found out about atomic weapons after the war (to head off riots about why they weren't used, etc). It is impossible to argue otherwise - unless you fall back on "they thought different back then" or "they did what they thought necessary" or whatever, which can easily be used to defend the Rape of Nanking and similar atrocities.

    • 6.10

Wow spob, yer on a roll. How many presidents besides Obama didn't defend the nuking of those two cities.
      .
For that matter, why is it that we still remain the only country to have ever used nuclear weapons in war? Food for thought, there, spob.
      .
And on the other matter with Palininatowel, just where was Timothy McVeigh tried? Are you going to tell me that right wing terrorists are somehow "different" or "safer" than Al Queda terrorists?

  • 8

Guys, here's a question. Check out this from Eric "Marc Rich" Holder:
    .
"Holder said one factor in deciding to keep Nashiri's case within the military justice system was that the attack targeted a U.S. warship docked in foreign territory, rather than a civilian target on American soil. Seventeen sailors were killed in the bombing."
    .
Hmmmmmm. So let's incentivize these terrorists to do their dirty work here in America. Now there's an idea.

    • 8.1

" .. the attack .. in foreign territory,.."

Quiz: The Big Boot of Imperialism

Q: A crime is committed in USA, and we prosecute it in our judicial system.
A crime is committed outside the USA - on foreign soil - we insist on prosecuting it in our judicial system.

      Discuss.

    • 8.2

It worked for Timothy McVeigh, spob.
      .
And he kiled 10 times as many people who were totally innocent and defenseless.
      .
It is food for thought, but you're gonna have to chew really hard to garf this one down...

    God, I f*cking hate Greenpeace.

  • 12

Let's pretend they're baby seals. Get me a club.

    • 12.1

I think you are confusing peta (http://www.olympicshame2010.com/Default.aspx) with greenpeace. Let's hurt the seal hunters by boycotting maple syrup!

    • 12.2

You mean I've got a freezer full of dead baby seals because I mistakenly thought Greenpeace was trying to protect them? Yogi, please tell me that Greenpeace isn't behind teabagging dolphins and spotted owls. I just sent a donation.

    • 12.3

Leave peta alone you guys! Cats & Dogs have pollical powers too!
      .
And we need to send an animal grinder through there before we pave it over because baby seals aren't the only source of protein McDonalds uses.
      .
Pretty soon, that will be the only constituency the GOP will have left after all the old white guys pass on...

  • 13

We killed the Borgen Project. You're next Greenpeace.

  • 14

Lou Dobbs avoids the unemployment line.

    • 14.1

Careful Sacred, you're talking about our next president!
      .
Imagine the first debate. The fascist, the baked Alaskan, and Obama trying to play nice.

    • 14.2

This debate is brought to you by Prozac and our good friends at Jack Daniels. Responses will be limited to 3 minutes with a 2 minute rebuttal limit on puzzled stares. There will be a ten minute session at the end where the candidates can froth at the mouth. Mr. Dobbs, the questions will be asked by our newest Supreme Court Justice.

Woman on the right: "Five years of college, dad taking out a second mortgage and working two jobs was worth getting a sweet gig like this."

  • 16

Ladies, the President is in Asia. That's just a guy wearing a mask. I hate to tell you this, but your day job at the sperm bank shouldn't involve brushing and rinsing.

  • 17

The Obama mask guy brought a sign too, but it read:
"2 dollars a gallon of gas is 2 too much"

The Obama mask guy brought a sign too, but it read:

  • 19

Spob-You and your pals at Red State need to Calm down. A public trial will show these people we are not afraid of them. Think about it.

    • 19.1

i fear the individual is no longer amongst us.
      .
      .
      .
      .
Prolly off scavenging for more vitriol lol.

    • 19.2

Those guys at Redstate were once pretty brave when our troops were fighting them over there. I wonder what happen that they are now so afraid? Is it the possibility of jury duty?

  • 20

No joking, I just watched Alberto Gonzales! on the Situation Room talking about how KSM is a "war criminal" b/c 3000 civilians were killed. Wolfie pooh said boo. As if the considerably larger #s of civilians US forces have killed in our endless multiplex war did not exist/did not mark our own esteemed leaders as, duh, f'ing war criminals.

  • 21

God Bless America! The greatest nation on earth. Land of the free because of the brave.

    • 21.1

      Amen.

Among 100s of quotes plastered on my walls:
      .
“Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all others because you were born in it.”
      -G.B. Shaw
      .
"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel."
      -Samuel Johnson
      .
“Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious."
      -Oscar Wilde
      .
"Heroism on command, senseless violence, and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism--how passionately I hate them!”
      -Albert Einstein

There's nothing wrong with loving your country in a non-pathological way, Oregon JC.

    • 21.5

Well, 2/3rds of a terrorist, this is a 180-degree turn for you, isn't it, given that not a few days ago you ranted, advocating overthrowing the US government, threatening a commenter, and implicitly supporting terrorism.
      .
So which is the real you, 2/3rds of a terrorist?

    • 21.6

"There's nothing wrong with loving your country in a non-pathological way, Oregon JC."
      .
Perhaps, but I'm wary of anyone advertising said love.

Quick! Save your carcass! Repent! Say:

      "Yahweh Bless America"

For it is said that there is no god but YAHWEH.
And those who worship any other are fit for death by stoning ...

      2) All the above

Not my idea of how this country rolls...

  • 22

Seriously, why are Republicans such bedwetters?

  • 23

Ask not what a pain in the ass bunch of clowns with too much time on their hands can do for you. Ask yourself if this is really how you want to spend your life.

  • 24

C'mon Shirley. We're having a bonfire to get rid of a bunch of old tires and plastic lawn furniture.

Let's throw this sign in the river. It's too heavy to carry back to the hotel.
