Bill Clinton Lobbies the Senate for Health Reform
Jay Newton-Small is preparing a fuller account, but you can hear the audio of his Q and A with reporters here:
(Our audio wizard Caitlin Thompson thinks we should award bonus points to the first Swampland commenter who can identify Hillary's ringtone on his cell phone.)
UPDATE: Here's a clip that zeroes in on that mystery ringtone:

Should Presidents be referring to Americans exercising their First Amendment rights as "teabaggers"?

Any thoughts, KT?-

.
Oh, I dunno, spob. Should said Americans be equating an attempt to overhaul the health care system in this country with a 1940s Nazi death camp?
.
Maybe "douche-baggers" is a better description of such "freedom of expression" practitioners. Better yet, how about their coming up with some constructive ideas to add to the discussion?
.
Beyond, of course, "I've got mine... screw the rest of you."

I saw Dr. Paul Farmer speak last night, and he started his talk with this quote from Martin Luther King, Jr.:
"Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane."
Farmer then went on to talk about opening a series of hospitals in rural parts of Haiti and now in numerous places in Africa.
He spoke about working closely with the Clinton Foundation to get these clinics and hospitals open and funded and how his organization, Partners in Health, is training locals and staffing these facilities with local doctors, nurses and staff.
I was never much of a Clinton fan, but Farmer gave a great deal of credit to Clinton and his foundation for helping Partners in Health open these facilities and helping to train locals.
There was a certain irony in Framer talking about curing people in third world countries when there are so many people in this country who have no insurance and only get health care as a last resort.
Farmer also noted that in almost every case, diseases and ailments can be treated for as little as 1/16 the cost in thrird world countries than they can in the U.S., and the outcomes are generally the same.
