Paul Dirks, if you were referring to my link, the majority of the quotes in the Media Matters I linked were from the TIME article. They "cherry pick" Beck quotes in order to contrast with something from the article. I did not find it false equivalence; it was a critique of the article. Salon has an article with a more devastating critique linked today by joyomama on Twitter.

Thanks for your comments. It's nice to read something from a sane person occasionally on this and many other websites.
The Liberal/Progressives always demonize those that don't share their views. Times fails to mention that Beck gives facts to back up his reports.
Time has become so Liberal in its writings, that a majority of Americans don't take them seriously. They and Newsweek and other Liberal magazines will be out of business within 5 years because their views are not of interest to the vast majority of Americans.
Maybe it's good that we have a very Liberal President. it will educate Americans why we never want one again.
Liberals are using the race card for those who disagree with President Obama. For the vast majority of Americans race has nothing to do with their dislike for the extreme policies of this President and his administration.

Do you require your "reporters" to do any background investigation?

His only claim to fame is that he watches Fox Noise and doesn't have time to watch "Olberman and Maddow" How about a little investigative journalism

What a disgusting article. Really, Time is actively giving cover to a racist hate monger. What's next "If you get your news from a liberal website, you think smoking is bad for you...?" The real problem with America is the fourth estate has become a fifth column that spends almost all it's energy keeping the truth secret and reinforcing lies. Everyone who works at the magazine ought to be ashamed. You're hurting your nation.

Charles Kaiser lays the smackdown on David von Drehle, extracting from him in an interview that he hasn't seen Olbermann's show in about a year and a half, and has never watched the Rachel Maddow show -- so his phony attempt at equivalency between them and Glenn Beck is based on nothing but his own hypocritical prejudices and assumptions.

Well said, but as Time's deciders will say, "Words will never hurt me." So, everyone cancel your subscription. And as I've done, go to every blog site that has a few scores of thousands of readers (Democratic Underground, Washington Monthly, Andrew Sullivan's Daily Dish, Huffington Post, for a start) and state your case against Time. As for Time's deciders, I suggest that you take a good look at Nancy's Pelosi in her remarks yesterday about how this country is on the precipice of terrible violence. Look at how shaken she is because she's personally seen close-up what it can do - the deaths of two fine public servants in San Francisco. And then consider for a moment your culpability in whatever will happen because of course it will happen. What a pathetic enterprise you've become. Shame on you.

God, I can just read the next Scherer column of false equivalence cowardice. "Hitler killed some Jews, but, that said, Sandy Koufax did throw a few one-hitters in the 1960s. Most of these strike out victims were non-Jews, of course." You guys make me insane because KT is so good, and Klein can be so extraordinary when he doesn't do his "serious" Van Jones bullsh**.
