The Week That Was
To start your weekend off right, this look back by Paul Slansky. Though, as usual, we are open to commenters who want to tell us why you think you will remember this week.

Slansky:
~
"Washington Post
• Dan Froomkin, the single best journalist at, is fired by, while unreadable hacks like Richard Cohen and David Broder (you know, the 'dean' of the navel gazers) and torture defenders Charles Krauthammer and Bill Kristol are retained by"

OK, am I just insufficiently caffeinated or WTF!? Did a Time writer really just submit that, for, like, publication? JNS & JK tossing around CIA coup in Iran talking pts. and now this. I need to spike my jah! -

Iranian students shot dead on street by mullah mobsters, Obama sits on hands doing and saying NOTHING, Rev Wright says STALIN ACCOMPLISHED.

hulagate returns. Gunny finally gets it. Absence does nothing.

Baucus, Sen. Max
• betrayal of public by; reconsideration by liberals regarding justifiable waterboarding to be imposed on. -

KT, thank you for the opportunity to raise other issues. Larry Sabato, a pundit of pundits has just lost an earmark provided through the good offices of his friend Virgil Goode, who lost his seat last November, for his university program. How many pundits are at the receiving end of earmarks (govt dole) and how does it influence their political opinions. I am not interested in tha standard knee jerk about what a wonderful guy Sbato is and how thoughtful and spot on his opinions have been. If he has accepted govt funds does it not call into question his independence?

hulagate: With 805.6% more insane babble this week. This is a great savings. Or something. Seek help dear.

Democrats;
ascend to power by railing against the rigid ideology, belligerence and elitism shown by their political adversaries; and become what they campaigned against. -
9
People who voted for the Democrats realize they have been conned by the centrist cult yet again.
-
10
Don't worry Derek. Kent Conrad and David Broder will be eating quail together soon. That is what is important.
-
11
The dissatisfaction of the Left will remain a complete mystery because the media will be too busy trying to understand why the Right can't stand him.

Mmm...weekend beef. (Or tofu for those of you vegetarian/vegan inclined)

Because I moaned here earlier (8:10) about the state of affairs, I have two more things that I am very disappointed over with the Obama admin. and current leadership.
.
Our surge of troops in Afghan and overall military spending. I expected to see that staunched, a bit.
.
And preventive detention. How can we reasonably say that this is OK, as Americans fortunate to live in a Republic? If the laws of a republic fail, then I don't know what it is; it kinda ceases to be anything but grift..

This isn't earth-shattering news, but Rachel Maddow used a bogus quote to smear Rush Limbaugh.
.
Has she corrected her smear? What sort of person would smear someone so disreputably, and then not issue a correction?
.
In other news, Obama misled again. But, I guess that happens most of the times he speaks, so his cultlike supporters are used to it.
.
And, of course, Karen Tumulty wouldn't tell you any of the above even if she knew about it. -
15
Oh, I got kattested. Quite a lot of creatures in the swamp today.
.
.
as per Afghan/spending point above, this one's for Cliff-
.
Contrary to what the most recent U.S. president named George told you, the oceans are “still there” and they still protect America. There is no evildoing navy or air force that can haul enough wild-eyed Islamofabulists here to conquer and occupy us. Another 9/11 will always be a slim possibility, no matter what we do, but fighting goofy wars overseas for gossamer reasons won't prevent it. That 9/11 ever happened at all was proof positive of the institutional Onanism that infested the CIA and the FBI and the FAA and the NSA and JFCOM and rest of the alphabet soup that was supposed to keep it from happening.
.
June 30, the day all of our troops are supposed to be out of Iraq cities, is right around one of those corners Dick Cheney used to say we'd just turned. I can't wait to hear the excuse the Obama administration springs on us about why we still have soldiers in places they swore they'd get them out of. We're also about to shove another 21,000 G.I.s into Afghanistan, a maneuver that the Army appears to have been planning on since before the 2008 election, and there's still danger that the American warmongery will elbow our president and legislature into displaying fool traits vis-à-vis Iran. -

"Obama stays in middle lane, Right and Left dissatisfied and outflanked, practical leadership of a complex country continues."

No drama, no food for the controversy whores. -

Thought, errant:
.
The act of idly wondering what happened to a particular Swampland troll, who shall remain unnamed, then have that very individual miraculously reappear to wreak havoc.
See Apparitions, nasty, rather. -

that very individual miraculously reappear..

I think someone discovered that 140 characters was insufficient for a properly developed paranoid/schizophrenic rant. -

It's the thought that counts... -
