Unfortunately that moment of levity, as funny as it was, ended up derailing the tough questioning of Gibbs about why President Obama did a 180 on releasing the 44 torture pictures.

Top right wing blogger Erick Erickson of RedState.com is now calling for conservatives to stop giving money to the NRSC over the endorsement of Crist, who is running against conservative former House Speaker Mark Rubio.

Erickson denounced the NRSC's decision to endorse Crist as "wholly unacceptable," adding: "If the NRSC thinks this is smart, we must not waste our time or energy with them. Join me in pledging no money, no help, no aid, and no support for the NRSC's efforts in the 2010 election cycle."

In an apparent reference to rumors surrounding the Florida governor's personal life, Erickson later tweeted that NRSC support for Crist "will blow up in their face big time when the salacious stuff comes out."

KT: I think you may be a little off base on this one. I don't think it's coming down to whether or not they want to win, I think it's it's coming down to whether or not they want to live. The closest parallel I can think of was during the Viet Nam War when they said they had to destroy the village in order to save it. Their quest for party purity is a just a purge by any other name.

Wait a minute, I thought Crist was being trotted around last fall as one of the GOP's most promising new leaders. Now he's been declared a heretic?

KT--Florda politics in a nutshell: If they want to win the senate seat, they'll back Crist. Rubio has slightly worse than even odds, depending on the (D) candidate.

I suspect that the strength and backing of the Florida Democratic party candidate will be inversely proportionate to how likely Crist is to get the nomination; he's got an impressive popularity buffer to overcome and there are a lot of easier senate pickups elsewhere.

Hundreds. I used to teach adults how to do stuff on the 'puter. Most common were the business-types who were too busy to be taking a class and the 'tourists' that were there just because someone told them to be there.

The worst were the tourists. At least the business-types got up to leave the room.

At this rate, the 2012 GOP ticket is going to be "Ivan the Terrible/Vlad the Impaler." Motto: "Let Us Show You How We Do Things In Old Country."

A recurring theme in comments seems to be how stumped some people are that not everyone roots for their political party no matter what.

The issue of torture being a prime example.

I give him a little bit of credit. He wants to do it, but knows he'll pay a price for it, so he doesn't. When you have to be dragged kicking and screaming to act in a patriotic manner, forgive me if I don't laud you.

Oh, I am not stumped PNNTO. It's just fun juxtaposing the sycophantic views on Obama with what actually gets done. Guys, Obama doesn't have a ton of things he'll die on a hill for. That's something you'll have to get used to.

Allow me to remind you that the issue is before the courts. At the end of the day it will be up to a judge (or a panel of them) to decide whether or not the photos get released.

Obama's only decision is how hard to fight for a stay of the current ruling. Unlike his predecessor he is aware of the Constitutional limits of his office. I know many people find this confusing.
