Republicans need to keep their mouths shut on global warming. They truly have no clue what they are talking about...

Looks like we can still count on Congress to ignore reality and pander to our lowest motives. Somebody please remind them about the realities of free-lunch economics.
    .
Of course solving climate change is going to cost something. The point is to recognize an appropriate cost of the pollution we cause when we use dirty energy sources. That way we'll have the economic incentive to go to cleaner sources, as we must. We're already incurring calamitous hidden costs for ignoring the issue; putting a price tag on the current practices would be basic responsible government. And don't even get me started on the economic costs we swallow – typically in the DOD budget – when we rely on energy sources that "don't like us very much." McCain had the right concern, but the wrong solution.

Congress's insistence on a no-cost solution is a lot like the harebrained opinion expressed back in the days of the S&L bailout: "I don't think the taxpayers should have to pay for it; I think the government should have to pay for it."

  • 3

"As it stands now, energy price hikes are unavoidable under most of the climate changes plans swirling around Congress"
    .
If we don't do *anything,* "energy price hikes are unavoidable". Peak oil? India, China, and the rest of the developing world are just coming online.
    .
We need alternative energy no matter what. (And of course, that's leaving alone the other costs of doing nothing.)
    .
But I guess that's so much reality that it falls into the "sphere of deviance."

Thanks, Jay, that's a pretty dense, informative article. I have a much better sense of the specifics of what Obama, the Dems, and the GOP are all up to.
    -
I'd like to see a nuclear power plant on every corner, FWIW.
    -
I would also have liked to see an explanation of the GOP's unprecedented level of filibusters in that third-to-last paragraph... or at least the word "filibuster" somewhere in there...

I wish someone would address the rise in costs in continuing to defer this issue year after year. Be cheap now or really pay, in terms of money, clean-up and health down the road.

And there are hundreds upon hundreds of more scientific articles which debunk the "Al Gore Global Warming" farce. Simply put, Obama's "Cap and Trade" is a liberal agenda to fund his other pet socialist projects. Without it, socialized healthcare will never be a reality. Coincidence that the money received from corporations taxed by cap and trade also equals the amount estimated by Obama to fund universal socialist healthcare?
    .
Even NASA debunks the liberal craze...

"During its strong counterclockwise phase in the 1990s, the Arctic environment changed markedly, with the upper Arctic Ocean undergoing major changes that persisted into this century. Many scientists viewed the changes as evidence of an ongoing climate shift, raising concerns about the effects of global warming on the Arctic.
    -
"It is too early to say, but it looks as though the Arctic Ocean is ready to start swinging back to the counterclockwise circulation pattern of the 1990s again."
    -
Morison cautioned that while the recent decadal-scale changes in the circulation of the Arctic Ocean may not appear to be directly tied to global warming, most climate models predict the Arctic Oscillation will become even more strongly counterclockwise in the future. "The events of the 1990s may well be a preview of how the Arctic will respond over longer periods of time in a warming world," he said."
    -
If it rains, it probably isn't necessarily Global Warming. If it rains 6 feet worth it just might be. NASA doesn't "debunk" anything.

Racist Rusty is too busy following link trails left by his buddies to actually read them.

    [Pointing and laughing] Aaaaaahahahaha hahahaha!

  • 10

I never fail to be entertained by the dementation that spews from the lips of our favorite country proctologist.
    .
    Don't go changing, rustydouche!

  • 11

Centfan, Cliff, Friar Tuck, you don't understand. Rusty is a victim of Obamabots who "demoralize" and "perform deceptive acts in a coordinated fashion." It's all a great big conspiracy against normal, flat-earth believing Americans.

  • 12

And all the top scientists across the world are involved:

    .
Their minds have been captured by orbital mind control lasers.

  • 13

I'm sorry, it is difficult to respond to liberal retards, especially when their only defense is "rustydouche!". Pardon me if I do not fall into your race baiting and 3rd grade playground name calling tactics.
    .
And they ask me why I will not debate them on the issues. Pfffft!

  • 14

Here you go JJ, I can cite "Wikpedia" too...
    .

    .
Although most of what is put on wikpedia is total bull-crap

  • 16

Pardon me if I do not fall into your race baiting and 3rd grade playground name calling tactics.
    .
Rusty you called me gay once.

  • 17

A well-known characteristic of bullies is that they can dish it out, but not take it.
    .
Honestly, rusty, the reason we make fun of you is that your posts have nothing of substance to debate about, so the only choice is opprobrium or silence.
    .
Today, you basically called MS a homosexual, which you evidently take to be the deepest possible insult. You can't even do 3rd grade playground name-calling tactics right, but that doesn't mean you aren't down in the mud.
    .
So how 'bout if you take a break over a steaming mug of STFU?

OT mateys, but th' Republicans be releasin' their "budget" t'day...fr'm wha' I be seein', April 1 be th' perfect occasion t' unleash this torrent o' foolish spindrift...lots o' pretty white foam, not a bit' o' realistic substance, don't ye be knowin'. An, surprise surprise...tax cuts fer th' top o' th' heap...aye, they all be either pullin' our peg legs, 'r they all be sufferin' fr'm th' sad effects o' "too much time a' sea", so t' speak - rickets an' scurvy o' th' brain. I don't be seein' th' crew a fallin' fer th' same ol' same ol' swill they be servin' up. Bu' it be right fair entertainin' t' see them all a prancin' t' th' shanties they be hearin' in their tetched wee heads - off key an' stumblin' drunk tho' they be appearin' in their wild careenin' about th' deck.
    .
    ARRGH!

  • 19

    Well, Hells Bells, Rusty!
    .
Now why didn't you say you wanted to debate scientific issues!
    .
I'll be more than glad to oblige.
    .
A word of warming, er, uh, warning.
    .
    Ask spob how he fared...

Pirate Wench - Can you please explain the pirate talk? If you are trying to make a point or add to the discussion, it would make sense to speak in plain English. We are not pirates and I am guessing that you are not a real pirate either. It's not that I don't have a sense of humor; it is just difficult to read your posts, so I just skip them along with the wingnut posts from hulagate etc.

  • 21

    I saw their "budget".
    .
It did seem to me that it had lots and lots of goodies for the rich.
    .
And, as is so typical of those boneheads, (actually, pachycephalosaurus is a bit smarter than your average Republican), nothing but excreta for the rest of us...

  • 23

    First round, Rusty.
    .
Is the Sleeping White Giant awake? Does he/it/whatever have a brain? Can you tap into it?

  • 24

Looks like Rusty is blowing CO2 out his arse.
    .
    Maybe lighting, too.

Sure 53 and no sense, citing the Peterson's Institute, one of the most liberal "think tanks" in Washington is a great start. Here is a list of their "Board of Directors". Anyone sound familiar to you?

I happen to know dear "C. Fred" personally. And it is one of the most liberal organizations in Washington who are in favor of a "Global Economy and Global Government". That is a direct quote from Fred. :)
