Hillary Clinton's Spring Break Tips
Had trouble loading this State Department video, so here is the link (H/T Matt Cooper via Twitter).
While I heartily endorse all these common-sense tips, I couldn't help remembering my own trip to Merida with the then-First Lady in 1999. Dressed as First Ladies must on these occasions--professional pantsuit with delicate pumps--Hillary Clinton could only watch enviously as some of the more intrepid members of her staff raced with a few reporters to the top of a pyramid. I heard her murmur: "Next time I come here, I'm wearing a tank top." Funny how life works out. I guess her own spring break in the Yucatan is going to have to wait a few more years.
UPDATE: My colleague Massimo Calabresi tells me that Clinton is planning a trip to Mexico at the end of the month. Madame Secretary, life is short. Pack the tank top.

"My colleague Massimo Calabresi tells me that..."
.
The preceding words must always be followed by a 2nd source for confirmation. Massimo Calabresi....heh, heh. Good one. -
2
Mexico? Pack Kevlar.
-
3
Um, what? I don't get this post. What point am I missing, please.
-
4
P-NNTO: It is Friday. I am being whimsical.
-
5
P-NNTO: Of course, if I have to TELL you I'm being whimsical, it sort of defeats the point of being whimsical.
-
6
My colleague, the loathsome Massimo Calabresi tells me that Clinton is planning a trip to Mexico at the end of the month.
.
Fixed that for you. -
7
Aren't we being a little cranky today, commenters?
-
8
I'll be whimsical too. One of the cover stories on Time asks if marijuana can help rescue California's economy. Pack the tank tops, grab a few buds and watch Bill Mahr tonight. Thank me on Monday.
-
9
KT - A year of hideous economic, environmental, and civil liberties news tends to do that to me.
.
But I'm sorry. I'll try to stop worrying my pretty little head about it. -
10
"Aren't we being a little cranky today, commenters?"
.
We witnessed real journalism last night. Woke up to find this sh!t and your colleagues completely missing the point. -
11
"Aren't we being a little cranky today, commenters?"
.
Sy Hersh reports that Cheney ran assassination teams out of his office and we get a piece about 'Hillary on Spring Break'.
.
Guess they're waiting about some sort of in-depth commentary on that from Time.
.
Me too . . . -

KT, with all due respect, if you post stuff that used to be relegated to a 'women's pages' sort of ghetto and the blog is supposed to be about politics, and it follows Village Boy discovering that he strongly feels that strong feelings should be felt strongly about... you just might be a target for some snark.
-
13
Thanks KT, it was an honest question.

Also, more proof of a gamed run up to Iraq:

.
...but no one's talking about it in the media. -
15
The economy is in the tank. Unemployment is rising. Banks are failing. We're fighting in two wars. Our last president and his sidekick are probably war criminals. I can use a little whimsy. If I didn't have to leave for work in a few minutes I'd put on my werewolf mask and chase the dogs around the house.
-
16
With the surge in Mexican drug lords coming across the border, dear Hillary should have made her first trip anywhere to Mexico! Just a statement of my opinion.
-
17
"If I didn't have to leave for work in a few minutes I'd put on my werewolf mask and chase the dogs around the house."
.
And I'm tempted to join you. Sounds like good exercise. -
18
Not quite sure what to make of the Sy Hersh thing. He made reference to something in a speech, but says the details are coming in a book.
.
As this appears to be one of those days when you guys have decided to blame me for all your grievances against journalism and the world, I think I'll just disengage for a while and leave you to discuss among yourselves.
.
Happy weekend, everyone. -
19
Oy.

"Not quite sure what to make of the Sy Hersh thing. He made reference to something in a speech, but says the details are coming in a book."
.
I think he did more than just "make a reference to something". All we're asking is that you take a look at what he's saying and see if there's something to it. Almost sounds like you're really not interested in looking. -
21
Is it just me, or do the Washington insiders seem to be genuinely scared to ask questions of what happened RE: Cheney and his secret ops?
.
Genuinely afraid of what they might find out if they did very deeply? -
22
Sorry - "DIG very deeply".
-
23
afguy: it's not that i'm not interested. i just don't have any intelligence sources. the closest thing i have to an intelligence source is jim risen of the nyt. sy hersh is pretty unique in his sourcing.

for those of you who don't know what we are talking about, here's a link:

And here's what I mean by sketchy:
.
Hersh didn't take back the statements, which he said arise from reporting he is doing for a book, but that it might be a year or two before he has what he needs on the topic to be “effective...that is, empirical, for even the most skeptical.”
