An Important Lesson

It is a basic law of human nature that when vast sums of money are distributed rapidly by government agencies, corruption ensues. Hence, this story, which scratches the surface of the free-range robbery that took place in Iraq. It will behoove the Obama Administration--and the media--to pay careful attention as to how the stimulus money is being disbursed in the coming months. Inevitably, even if the program is carefully monitored, there will be ripoffs...and those should be kept in perspective. But if the ripoffs are widespread, the current public consensus in favor of government activism could evaporate very quickly.
