Friday Swampland Poll
This one is a video multiple choice. The choices can be viewed after the jump. Answer A, B or C in the comments.
QUESTION: Barack Obama's first three weeks in office most resemble which of the following:
A.
B.
C.
-
1
MS: Add a pack of nasty ferrets and a bunch of hooting monkeys to the video and I'll pick "C". I'll leave it to you to guess who the ferrets and monkeys are...
-
2
C!!! so cute...n some say obama is too cute by half
-
3
gotta be "a"....
_
its a perfect metaphor -- the heroic team riding in on the crests of the waves, only to find themselves mired in the wet sand of the beach. The only thing more "apt" would have been if some of the soldiers (Daschle, Richardson) had been sucked completely into the sand, while a foreign military observer goes running away (gregg) -
4
I'd say C, though only if that baby Giraffe is a decoy to distract the press with relatively meaningless, short term stumbles, while the real ObamaGiraffe passes the most sweeping and consequential tax cut and spending plan in US history.
-
5
B if you close your eyes. that music should play every time Barack Obama enters a room. If you must actually watch, I'd go with A. But only if you add in the music from B.

Why is Michael Scherer consistently so juvenile? With the "best lede" post last month about porn names (http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2009/01/29/best-lede-of-the-day/), and this. It's like he sits around thinking up ways he can confirm the Atrios-and-everyone-else-ever critique about the beltway media being unserious buffoons.

I'll say it again… it certainly is comforting to know there's no actual news emanating from the White House today. Wish I had MS's job.
.
Hell, I wish anybody had his job. -
8
I agree with tyler here.
_
its understandable that KT and JNS engage in trivia -- they're political reporters, and its not their job to understand issues, just the "trivial" DC power-games surrounding those issues -- Scherer is listed as Time's White House Correspondent. It would be nice if he didn't act as if he was the White House Political Correspondent, and do more reporting on the issues that the White House is dealing with. -
9
plukasiak: that's a good point, but I don't think it's just that MS descends the KT and JNS's level, I think he completely out-trivializes them. To me KT just reads like a good blogger, just giving her take -- so the post earlier today about the commerce sec job being a sweet gig was just that, her take, and it was actually *about* something happening in the world. But this post is like MS is trying to bottle the conventional wisdom with youtube videos. How is it MS's job to decide between those three options? And how are those the three options? It's just so inane. MS treats this blog like it's his personal facebook page, where he and his journo buddies are yucking it up about BO as a baby giraffe.

This is the kind of post we always get from Incorrigible Moron when there's no RNC emails in his inbox and no sirens at Drudge.

tylerbickford: Why is Michael Scherer consistently so juvenile?
.
Ooh-ooh! More quizzes!
.
QUESTION: Michael Scherer's stint as White House Correspondent resembles which of the following:
.
A. (this video)
.
B. (this video)
.
Thanks for the substantive post, Michael. -
12
It depends on the perspective but according to public opinion, it would have to be video B (I didn't even know people did that, it was fascinating to watch). For the MSM trying to cover those first weeks, I would vote video A. Video C reflects our stumbling economy.

QUESTION: Michael Scherer's work as White House Correspondent resembles which of the following:
A. Wire fraud;
B. Mail fraud;
C. All of the above.
-
14
Why do I bother reading posts by Michael Scherer?
-
15
Leave! Michael! Scherer! a…lo…ne!!! You…..
-
16
Lighten up, folks. You need to get a sense of humor.
.
Perhaps there's a business idea here. We can sell senses of humor to all the grumpy Swampland commenters and jumpstart our economy. Hmmm.... -
17
C Obama's first steps are very much baby steps with some falls.
-
18
They all look like the Republican attempt to gain traction outside the press bubble.
.
Barack Obama looks more like this; I would have preferred that he drive further to the left, but he got most of what he wanted and steamrolled the opposition. -

Woohoo! Close thread!
