One thing that's interesting is that the USAir equipment is still called by the America West identifiers (Cactus). From a transactions perspective it makes sense since America West acquired US Air and took the older name, but it's still striking (no pun intended).

Also, wouldn't you think that a pilot who had frequently flown in and out of LGA would have run through the "what should be done if the engines go out?" mental scenarios many times? I wonder if such things turn up in simulator sessions. None of this takes away from the pilot's skill and sang froid in bringing the aircraft and its occupants safely to rest.
