Please Go Away--II

In today's edition of Please Go Away, we have Andrew Card suggesting that Barack Obama should wear a suit and tie when he's in the Oval Office. After all, George W. Bush did--and all that respect for the office helped him to be a really great President.

The point is, when people are actually working--as opposed to working out their Oedipal crises in the Oval Office--they tend to want to roll up their sleeves and get comfortable.  George W. Bush could have come to work in a tuxedo and still been a lousy President; Barack Obama will do just fine in shirtsleeves, I predict.

In the meantime, Andy Card, you join Dick Cheney on the expired list: Please. Go. Away.

Oh he could be going away....to jail for crimes against the constitution. But Joke Line you and your ilk don't believe in people being held to account for their actions if they are rich and powerful. So why should we give a sh*t about you being upset that the man is exercising his first amendment right? At least he isn't torturing anybody....at the moment.

Who the f--k is Andrew Card?

  • 3

Oh and whatever happened to that update you promise from your post saying Susan Rice had made a "rookie mistake?"

  • 4

Card continued, "I don't criticize Obama for his appearance, I do expect him to send the message that people who are going to be in the Oval Office should treat the office with the respect that it has earned over history."

The level of respect left in the place by Little Bush would call for bare feet and wife beater undershirts. Obama's code certainly rises several levels above that.

Is this really what Andrew Card has to care about? Whether Obama was a frigging tie to the office or not? That is the MOST important thing occupying his time? It must be nice.

  • 6

Flag pin. Hey Andy-your guy wore a suit an tie and took a daily crap on the entire country.

Klein found the cash bar in the Admirals Club, again.

The Borgen Project has some good info on the cost of addressing global poverty.

$30 billion: Annual shortfall to end world hunger.
    $550 billion: U.S. Defense budget

Frankly, I would have preferred that the Bush administration had decided to show their respect for the constitution by following it rather than putting a Jacket over it and strangling it with a tie.
    .
But having said that, isn't there some unwritten rule about not bashing the previous administration for at least a year? And if this is so why are their comments being sought out?
    .
Where is Obama's honeymoon Joe? What's so different about the Obama administration that justifies him not getting a honeymoon period?
    .
First the media practically denies Obama a transition period beause Bush was awol and they needed Obama to hold their hands everyday until the inauguration -- Now the msm wants to claim his presidency a failure after two-weeks because the Republcans have forgotten how to behave like Americans.
    .
Give me a break -- where's the honeymoon?

BTW: Vegas odds now 5-3 that Leo Paschetta will be dropped like a bad speaking engagement in Time for the Sunday chat tables.

As light in the loafers as president select Skippy comes across, he should at least be less wear and tear on the carpets than Clixon.

Even if with the same basic staff of onerous hippiecraps.

Not that there's anything right with that.

Durbin just handed DeMint his azz.

  • 13

I don't mean to imply that Obongo's gay, to be clear.

He just stylishly struts hard forward, to keep from getting blown away by any little political breeze, I suppose.

Fast on his way to his next bad vetting, most likely.

"Durbin just handed DeMint his azz."

Turbin couldn't hand Helen Keller a cane without a federal mandate.

  • 15

"But having said that, isn't there some unwritten rule about not bashing the previous administration for at least a year?"

That was before Carter & Clixon.

    Enjoy the CHANGE.

    Light in the loafers?
In floor debate this morning on the stimulus bill, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) accused Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) of being "theatrical." He responded by being, well, theatrical.

Anyone heard from Hillary the last two weeks?

You'd think with all the dismal failures that Obama's seen during that Time that alot of DNC regulars might be seriously reconsidering her, for 2012.

She did get more of the popular vote than Obama, of course.

  • 18

    Paul-no not the one
    .............

Booboo Boxer should stick to burning down the houses in the Southland, since that's her legacy -- and she does it so well, and so often.

Did you not think she was basically calling him a beyatch? Man that was great. And he looked so prissy in his comeback. I am telling you that the Dems have been on the war path today. They kicked McCain in the nuts repeatedly today until by the end of the day he was back to looking like he did the last month of his campaign.

hulagate is certainly theatrical. Is it light in the loafers as well? Get out the cane.

  • 21

SG I saw the clip at TPM and was actually laughing. Bad form for the office.
Glad to see the push back.

  • 22

hulagate -- there is such a thing called decorum and class. It is obvious that the GOP has none and you champion that deficiency. Fortunately, you are relegated to cyberspace where you live a life of lonely despair. Because I doubt if you use cutlery either.

I hate breaking my own rules.

She's at Foggy Bottom. Doing, you know, her job,and stuff. That she got confirmed for. But thanks for playing, now let the grown-ups talk.

For all the fine dress standards we had two well below standard oafs occupying the top two offices in our country. Message for Andy: dress is no substitute for character and integrity.

I was thinking I was in KT's blog about the Repub/Taliban consolidation when I mentioned getting out the cane. Appropriate here, too, I guess.
