The New Republican Leader
Recently-elected RNC Chair Michael Steele addressed House Republicans today, speaking up the importance of continued opposition to Barack Obama and the House Democrats when neccesary. "The goose egg you laid on the president's desk was just beautiful," he told the crowd, of their recent unanimous opposition to the House stimulus bill. (Hear his further thoughts below, starting at 4 minutes.)

What a interesting country we've become. We would ever have predicted that both of our major political parties would be headed by black Democrats.

AND NOW ANOTHER RANT FROM SPIRO T. BIDEN, NOT QUITE QUIET RIOTING VEEP OF THE UNITED SLATE OF MBNA...
"Folks, we can not afford more easy money mortgage scams like Hillary foisted on America in the 90's, with no foreskin whatsoever, and call it change. What we really need is to put everything on your brand spanking new Chase Sunny Visa Amtrain Affinity Card, with an opening APR of 3% for 3 minutes and then the same Dumbo Jumbo terms that got us into this Boob Rubinesque mess in the first place. Mind you, we'll ignore that Chuck Wrangle behind the IRS self-banking Dominican apron, and Allah only knows don't bring up my subsidized train tickets home every weekend to not Scranton, but as Rosty is my perspiration I pledge to you fellatio cafeteria Catholics that like the Kennedy clan before us we shall continue to bootleg bogus ballroom dancing bang the drum slowly for the many disenhousized peabrains that took the loose change loans and ran with them into Las Vegan condo oblivion, for as my wise father once said en route to the pizza parlor past the Dunkin Donuts south of Dewey Beach during the height of sandcastle season for August D.C. dolts hell bent on flipping through the next Woopoo Post bio-crack from Janet Cooke's ilk, that we may overcome the bad math and worse voting records that made my old friend John Edward's XL country home great, for be it beyond me to avoid telling you about my first job as not Secretary of State during the not Gore administration, copyright 1998 Monica Loosinsky, make it so military people playing JAG officer for the sake of CBS and nothing more, wave it wide and high, summer time come and gone, my oh my..."

So....his grand overarching plan for the party in the coming years: Obstructionism for obstructionism's sake?
Yeah, I guess if you stonewall enough, you can truly convince people that it's Obama's fault for not being 'bipartisan' enough.
-
4
"Beautiful goose egg," eh? So Steele's condemnation of obstructionism ("For those of you who wish to obstruct, get ready to get knocked over.") was definitely just more elephant crap, as we suspected.

Numbers speak louder than hulu:
.
In the last six months, Beranke and Paulson, in a fit of "generosity", handed out 7,200,000,000,000 dollars without any oversight whatsoever to the financial industry.
.
Just how much is 7,200,000,000,000 dollars?
.
It is such a large amount of money, that at $131 a month at 0% interest, it would tale longer to pay off than the entire history of the Earth - 4,586,000,000 years.
.
Paying off the debt incurred courtesy of the Republican looting of the treasury would span the the entire Hadean, Archaen, Proterazoic, and Phanerazoic ages of the Earth!
.
So while hulu has a sexual fixation on David Koresh and the Clintons, the reality is that Daschles taxes are 56,250,000 times smaller than the damage incurred by this counrty by Republicken actions!

Michael Steele is going to be the best thing to ever happen to the Democratic party in the last 50 years. He contradicts himself sentence to sentence and comes off like a used car salesman. If the Republicans have any sense they will hide his ass and soon. But he loves the limelight too much for that. He will be all over FoxNews repeating Rushbo talking points and looking like the biggest fool. Someone better clue these idiots in to the fact that pulling this kind of sh!t is going to ensure that they never see the light of day again.
.
Also did anybody else see AMC last night on Rachel Maddow kissing up to McCain one last time about him snubbing Obama on his invitation to watch the Superbowl? Even Rachel wasn't buying it. How did she end up getting hired by Air America? Did no one check her resume? -
7
Math is grand, aint it?
-
8
I think hulu is "empowered" because he thinks now his racial philosphy is somehow legitimized by Steele's presence at the helm.
.
I guess, hulagate, as a true believer in "guilt by association", beleives the reverse works as well.
.
Dumber 'n a warm rock on a windowsill, I always said... -
9
Excellent. Now Obama can be all, "Hey, do you guys remember the time America lost 50,000 jobs in a month and the GOP refused to help? I like to call that 'yesterday'."
-
10
.
What a suprise; yet another Republican who's more interested in partisan politics than good governance...
.
Today's G.nO.P.: Can't lead, won't follow, and too viciously partisan to get out of the way. -
11
When I was young I was terrible at sports - uncoordinated and unable to accomplish much of anything. I was nevertheless always good at getting in the way and disrupting things, so when I called upon I could always play decent defense.
.
Why do I get this peculiar feeling that the Republican party operates under a similar curse? -
12
Michael Steele ain't no Obama. He is trying to equate himself with Obama by saying it's going to be interesting sparring with Obama. Well sir, Obama was elected by 63 million people and you were elected by 91 people who are basically putting lipstick on a pig.
.The only thing the election on Mr. Steele is going to do is alienate more minorities. We have seen this movie before; picking Palin to reach the disgrunted Hillary supporter, now Steele to target the black vote. How narrow!
.Powell, Rice were not able to get the minority vote when George Bush pulled this stunt. What the Repubs need to do is change their message of Anti-intellectualism, Pro-life, Anti-science and stop listen to Rush Limbaugh

For the YouTube officianados the footage for the perfect two faced ad is out there.
-
14
Steele loves to lie and play dirty, but he's too stupid to do it effectively.
-
So, the perfect choice for today's GOP. -
15
They're gonna naysay their way into oblivion.
.
But, look on the bright side!
.
I bet hulagate feels so empowered by all of this that he will pontificate on his version of "Civil Rights"... -

QH:
.
Does "hulagate" have something to do with Obama being partially from Hawaii?
.
And are you upset about Joe Biden's role in the passage of the most recent bankruptcy "reform" bill? -

jacuda1: Steele's going to have his hands full. The members of his party who still think the Southern Strategy is worth hanging onto aren't going to give it up so quickly. When McCain picked Palin in an apparent play for the Hillary voters, or was it to keep the evangelicals from bolting, I told my coworkers the race was over. Even when McCain briefly pulled ahead I still insisted it was over. I was a volunteer for Bill Clinton (both times) and for John Kerry. I did some volunteer work for Obama, not because I was worried about Barack getting elected, but because it was fun. The republicans have such little esteem for women and minorities that I believe they actually think they are interchangeable. Hillary is a woman, Palin is a woman...we got the female vote. Obama is black, Steele is black...we split the black vote. That sounds crazy, but the republicans are having some sort of collective brain fart. I can't see them pulling together. This is just another fracture.

They laid a goose egg, huh? Then went honking and hissing back to their pond.
.
Very good. I think the goose is a far more appropriate mascot for the GOP than the elephant. -
19
Hmm. In my dictionary, "goosestep" comes right before "GOP". Figgers.

via Steve Benen:
.
Most Republican governors have broken with their GOP colleagues in Congress and are pushing for passage of President Barack Obama's economic aid plan that would send billions to states for education, public works and health care.
.
Here's a thought. Someone on the teevee might ask the new head of the RNC about this disconnect. Someone might ask the repub governors about Steele's goose egg. -
21
Well, this just goes to show that the Republicans feel better when they're the not-so-loyal opposition and they can hate good government without actually ruining the country. I think that's great-- let's keep them a permanent minority, appeasing Rush and voting en masse against bills that are passed by the Dems and then signed by the Dem president. This will work great!!!
I do feel sorry for Republican governors, who have to actually govern, and are looking forward to that infusion of cash that all their colleagues in Congress voted agains.
-

Someone on the teevee might ask the new head of the RNC about this disconnect. Someone might ask the repub governors about Steele's goose egg.

Bwaaahahahahahahahaha! -

sacredh-
right on point. It's going to be interesting to see how Steele will try to rally the folks down in Alabama, Mississippi and the rest of "Real America", most of whom have intolerence ingrained in their DNA. This will be fun. -
24
Since the republican governors have actual budgets that are solidly in the red, how hard can we expect them to use the state's political machinery to elect more obstructionists to Washington in 2010? Party affiliation is important, but when the governors' individual asses are on the line, they'll look at their own careers and do what's best for them.

Michaele Steele is a dream come true for the Democrats. His own party's Governors are desperate for these funds and he's touting total oposition to the stimulus funds. Is this a great party or what?
The Republicans have chosen the perfect idiot to lead them over the clif. For you folks in other parts of the country I'm in Super Bowl Tampa, and the southern part of Tampa anywhere near the Stadium and on the interstate is in a huge gridlock on a Saturday. By the way no tailgating in NFL parking lots-- WOW! They really know how to take the fun out of this event. The Super Bowl events all have price tags of $150 per ticket on up to one at $875. The Taste of the NFL is $500 or $600 depending on if you want in an hour earlier. You'd think the people at Merrill Lynch were in charge of this Super Bowl. At least the middle class people near the Stadium who sell space in their yards for parking will make some money. It's all just a huge money grab for everyone. The concerts held in conjuction with the event have been reasonably priced, but Rihanna mailed in her performance at the concert outdoors the other night. That really wasn't a concert but just a TV show performance. She just stopped by for the paycheck. The good news: We only have one more day and then Monday we cna get back to normal. People will be able to find seating at their favorite restaurants in Tampa, no gridlock, etc. We are still waiting to see if someone gets shot at one of the player's parties this weekend. Odds 50-50.
