It's Better To Burn Out Than To Fade Away
Turn on your televisions. Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is defending himself in his impeachment trial. He just called for the impeachment of the governor of Wisconsin, expelling Ted Kennedy and firing Rahm Emanuel, saying he is just as guilty as they are. (Which is to say, not that guilty.) His logic had something to do with importing pharmaceuticals from Canada. He's just getting going.
(Apologies to Neil Young for the title of this post.)
While it lasts watch live online here, thanks to CNN.com.

Michael-What in the world has the governor of WI got to do with it?
-
2
What did Pearl Harbor or Ghandi have to do with anything? Blago is off the deep end. Where will he go from here? I smell a talk radio deal in the works. That of course is if he doesn't end up sharing a cell with his predessesor.
-
3
Maybe the gov of WI shot Ghandi which caused Pearl Harbor to blow up?
-
4
Both Blago and the Gov. of Wisconsin supported drug importation, so if he supported it and he should be impeached than they should also be impeached. That's his argument.
-
5
"Both Blago and the Gov. of Wisconsin supported drug importation"
.
Was this before or after shooting Ghandi? -
6
This is totally repulsively fascinating. aaaaaugh. sticking finger down throat. This has got to be payback to the bastards for impeaching him.
-
7
Okay, what was the question again? Good god, is this a filibuster?
.
Michael, hopefully this is a flameout like a skyrocket ascending loudly in all of its verbal splendor before, before, before....what was that about means and ends and means, blah, blah, blah. Has Guinness been called? -
8
"walk a mile in my shoes." They can't impeach him fast enough.
-
9
well, at least he's having a good hair day.

I tried to watch, during my lunch break from wrestling a book chapter into submission. Ended up switching to a "What Not to Wear" rerun because I just can't it anymore.

Is there a hackery contest going on at Time between Scherer and Halperin or something?

If y'all are bored, there's a fairly interesting troll over on JK's "Bibi Berserk" thread.

Nothing happening at the White House today, I guess.

Governor Blago will soon have a permanent place in the English language. People will be saying "he just Blagoed out." Meaning they started talking incoherantly.
Perhaps this will lead to a constitutional amendment in Illinois that all candidates for political office must submit to a psychological exam prior to running for office. At this point the good people of Illinois have no doubt become aware that they have been led by a person whose collection of marbles have been scattered.

What song title are you going to use to apologize for your whole career? Suggestions anyone?
-

I'm sorry to bring this up, because I've been avoiding following this "news" story. But what laws did Blago break again? I thought politics was all about finding a way to give something to get something & as long as it wasn't lining your own pockets (or cronies') then it was jsut the way politics gets done -- I do this political favor, you donate to my pet hospital project. Is this just a misdirection, so we don't think about how Bush/Cheney gave away so much taxpayer money to their friends?

Blago seems to be following a typical Republican prescription for redemption, though:
.
Say things that are totally incoherent and nonsensical, then stick by your story... -

Man, they'e going to be prying Governor's mansion light fixtures out of this guy's hands as they drag him out the door.

Michael,
Let's test your assertion. Let's watch Halperin burn out, while you fade away. Then we'll decide which we liked better. -

I think FlownOVer wins w/ "I'm a Loser", but I also like "Nowhere Man".
-

Now I'm really liking "Head Like a Hole" too.

It's like some sort of alternate-reality thing. Blago's in his own little world. Never mind finding him guilty ... just send for the men with the butterfly nets to take him away.
