Play Now: Inaugural Where's Waldo?
Photographer David Bergman made a massive composite 1,474 megapixel photograph of the Inaugural audience at the moment Barack Obama gave his address. This means that you can zoom in on any point in the crowd and see clear faces, the sort of technology that the CIA always seems to have in spy movies. It's quite fun.
To play the game, click here.
Extra points if you spot the following celebrities in the crowd: actor Denzel Washington, rap mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Attorney General-designate Eric Holder, New Yorker editor David Remnick, Rep. Dennis Kucinich, wheelchair-bound Dick Cheney and America's coolest married couple, Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z. (Hint: The Hova is wearing a big brown fur cap, and holding a gloved hand to his mouth.)
UPDATE: It seems that Waldo may actually have shown up for the inauguration. See the evidence here.

And a napping Clarence Thomas, just behind President Obama.
I was somewhere behind the Smithsonian Castle, so no matter how many megapixels that picture has, I can't be found.

2
Hopefully he was just looking down, Elvis! This is fun!

Interesting but if he really wants it to be interesting and less time consuming how about a series of buttons next to names that when you hit the button take you automatically to the individual noted.
I can see some hideous videogame manugfacturer taking this somewhere it is not intended to go.

.
Is that W with a Blackberry or a Gameboy?
. -
5
Can't tell, James. Looks like a thick wallet or Bible to me.
-
6
W is just clapping. His left thumb is in front of a glass bottle (see the tumbler next to it). Either that or it's a half-eaten Eskimo Pie.
-
7
And the hat is fur, not fir. Or, as they say in New York, fuh.

The sad thing about this is that I actually tried, at the last minute before heading out to the Mall, to put together a Waldo outfit and couldn't find the right pieces. ;-(
.
Had I succeeded, there could have been a real Waldo search for people with too much time on their hands. -
9
Plus I was way back at the WWII Memorial and beyond camera range. Out of sight, just like Elvis.

Glad to hear there isn't anything going on in the government today. There wouldn't be any time to, like, report.
-
11
yep. fur. fixed.

@ flownover: all work and no play makes Mikey - and the rest of us, I guess - a dull boy.

Okay that is just way too much fun! I was looking for a close bud but haven't spotted him yet (you would think a 6'7" Marine in full dress blues would stick out like a sore thumb!). I'd hunt for another friend there but I'd have more success finding Waldo I think!

14
Look for the disembodied feet on the sidewalk in front of the camera tower. The cops to the left are looking for the rest of him.
-
15
I found Obi-wan Kenobi! He's sitting at the point of a triangle between Bush/Cheney and Obama.
-
16
Clarence Thomas is in the exact same conditions he is when he hears cases...asleep.
-
17
The sour look on W's face is just so perfect. So glad he's gone.
-
18
I think he needed a deitie change Karen.

[...] You’d assume there would be more photographers out there would exercise the technologies they already possess a bit more. Especially after the buzz David has generated throughout the web. [...]
