Lone Star Sendoff
You can tell it has been a while since Democrats in some parts of the country have had much to celebrate. In Austin, that little blue island of liberalism deep in the heart of Texas, the Burnt Orange report tells us that Travis County Democrats will be holding a Bush Retirement Party & President Barack Obama Inauguration Celebration the evening of January 20. The entertainment includes: The Heartless Bastards and the Bad Precendents, a band made up of state legislators and Capitol staffers once deemed by a House Resolution to be the official band of the 80th Regular Legislative Session. (H/T to TIME Austin stringer Hilary Hylton)

The rest of the country, however, should look back.

Too many pieces of the system need fixing to let things slide.
