stuartzechman Says:
<i>" .. exhausted, other-directed Village-speak by which we're cynically accustomed to being nauseated... the inane, fatuous, cliche-burdened scripts usually characterizing the cocktail-weenie cohort's "work".</i>
And he keeps coming back for more.
Pay him no heed, Amy - he is our swamp grouch ..

Andy from MA Says:
<i> " ..I think marriage should be .. legal .. for two adults to marry .."</i>
It is not yet a done deal. Many still hesitate to go along. I would settle for different names to identify what adults are involved. We celebrate the beauty of the right word in poetry - succinct, expressive - - and we still have different names for different sexes, don't we? And sex is part of it, right?

[How about getting those conservative Americans in there as immigration officers asking if the couple consummated their 'marriage' - same-sex marriage .. ]

After being dragged along kicking and screaming, we are willing to erase "man and woman" out of the definition of "marriage". Why not go all out and erase the word "two"? You noticed the "same sex" line in my prior comment but skirted "polygamy" - which we presume that you may legalize only if you "burn in hell for an eternity."

[There will be an eternity. But if you will eventually consider it anyway, then why not save hell the fuel bill and capitulate right away without the drama?]
[Does "eternity" have something to do with time - as in one harvest season, two harvests, and so on?]

[Believing in the "son of" part is just that - a belief: Nobody is going to - or should - ask you to offer a logical proof or verify it with empirical evidence (unless you want to offer Blair-type of "incontrovertible evidence"..
And you don't have to believe in any of that "God" stuff... ]

It is not yet a done deal. Many still hesitate to go along. I would settle for different names to identify different situations - like what adults are involved - that is, if we still have different names for different sexes.

Since, after being dragged along kicking and screaming, we are willing to erase "man and woman" out of the definition of "marriage" then why not go all out and erase the word "two"?
Punchline to my post @ #38. When the boy's parents asked about his remarkable turnaround in Math, the boy replied, "On my first day when I saw that kid nailed to the plus sign, I knew those nuns meant business, and didn't want to make them angry."
