Governor Macker?
The AP reports:
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Former Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe signed papers Monday signaling a possible run for governor next year in Virginia.
McAuliffe told The Associated Press he set up a campaign committee and will tour Virginia for the next 60 days before making his candidacy certain.
He signed papers setting up his committee after a series of barnstorming campaign appearances across the state on behalf of Barack Obama's presidential campaign.
McAuliffe would face two other Democrats already in the governor's race. State Senator Creigh Deeds narrowly lost the attorney general's race in 2005, and House Democratic Caucus chairman Brian Moran is also in the race.

Man do I feel for that state's voters.

I just don't see it happening. He's too closely identified with Hillary Clinton, and though Virginia has finally turned blue her name carries enough poison to make for fairly effective attack ads. It'd be the equivalent of Obama tying McCain to bush.
Then again, unlike last election there's no clear democratic successor, so unless Warner (or to a much lesser extent Kaine) comes in with an anointment, literally anything could happen.

I predict the most Hawaiian shirt-wearing, rum-guzzling, totally hammered-getting campaign ever!

Well it would certainly be the most optimistic campaign in history.

Yes! I would like to request more people like McAuliffe who walk close to the edge, because they have to stray onto the other side for balance. David Plouffe and Valerie Jarrett will not be bringing the funny. I die a little inside every time I see them.

@ Dee: No, that would have been Ben Affleck's rumored run for senate back in 06.

8
Maybe the most optimisitic campaign may be Franken's. Difference at this moment is now 206 votes.

KT, I think you mean "macher." Or "mack daddy," I'm not sure which...

Remember that argument on the other thread about whether we should trust Obama or not? Check out this thread from Washington Monthly and tell me if you think we might have inspired this post.

Yeah, I just found it odd that we were arguing those same exact points over the weekend and specifically about the timeline to withdraw troops. But hey like you said we ARE a buncha nobodies lol -

Would be an absolutely horrible pick. I'd bet some of my prime organs that he would have lost even in this year's climate. One of the most loathsome figures in democratic politics during the last decade. Please, powers that be, Webb, Warner etc., don't let this happen. After all the progress in VA, this SOB could utterly wreck things.
