Ooof.
Sarah Palin this morning during a radio interview, via ABC:
If [the media] convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations, then I don't know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.
-
She's echoing Tito the Carpenter or whatever his trade was, who argued that journalists scrutinizing JTP's story were violating Joe's right of free speech.
-
This is up there with her dismissal of fruit fly studies in terms of absolute incoherence. Someone please explain to Ms. Palin that the media are not a part of the government, so they have no power to abridge her freedom of speech.
-
Does this woman understand ANYTHING about the constitution?
Or to resurrect an old question, "Are you lying or are you stupid?"
-
2nd try to elude moderation:
Does this woman understand anything at all about the const!tution?
Or to resurrect an old question, "Are you ly ing or are you $tupid?"
-
Thank you, Ms. Palin. Now, if you do move forward with a national political career, I will always have this handy quote I can cite, which will discredit you immediately.
-
Thanks for highlighting this. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who finds the fact that the potential Vice-president of the United States is utterly ignorant of the Constitution disturbing.
-
At least Cheney had a descent understanding of the document he was undermining!
-
She's right. The government should greatly restrict the media for this in order to protect the First Amendment. What am I missing here?
-
Is she serious? What version of the Constitution is she reading?
-
She apparently doesn't know much about the constitution, or else she would know that the VP is not "in charge of the Senate".
-
Amending my previous post.

And Michael, thanks for posting this.
-
Which Amendment to the Constitution protects politicians from being criticized by the media? Anyone?
-
This woman is an affront to the Constitution. In every way and at every opportunity, the suggestion that she has a political future at the national level must be resisted.
She is dangerous.
-
Is she really the best the GOP's got??
-
Makes perfect sense to me. But then again, I'm thinking of changing my name to "drunkee mcstagger", so there you go.
-
Cheney at least understood the constitution, he just didn't agree with it. I can at least sort of respect that...
-
There is a typo in your headline, isn't there? Shouldn't that be Oaf?
Palin has so egregiously mangled the truth in attacking Obama for his associations that even the generally reticent journalists of the traditional media have exercised their First Amendment right to correct her. And she considers that to be an attack on the First Amendment.
And she again attacks the "Main Stream Media" and Washington D.C. "elites" when the likes of William Kristol and Fred Barnes, both D.C. elites and fixtures of the MSM have been embarrassing themselves in defending her against the knives of McCain campaign hacks.
The fact that Palin is tone deaf to the irony and contradictions in her comments is proof positive of your headline typo.

I know lawyers are kicked around a lot but having 8 years with neither the President or Vice President having a law degree has had consequences.
-
Do we need to insert tags to force a paragraph break?
-
From a sociological standpoint, it is a heartwarming testament to the altruism inherent in our human society that this woman has managed to survive past breeding age.
-
a lot but having 8 years with neither the President or Vice President having a law degree has had consequences.
I learned more in Jr. High School than this woman has managed to grasp after all her time in public office. It's bad enough when we have idiots like Addington and Yoo trying to rewrite Article II. But as I said, at least they've read and understand the document they're trying to undermine. This is just appalling!
-
A good idea to protect ourselves from this kind of First Amendment abuse would be for the media to submit their remarks for approval in advance to an agency headed by Palin in a McCain administration. Let's keep our fingers crossed! Go America!

Your critics on the right want to bring you up on treason charges whenever you report a fact that stirs negative emotions in them.

Your critics on the left want you to do a good job reporting the news.
