<description>Sen. McCain has never shown any public acknowledgement or support for Juneteenth in Arizona or in Washington, DC during his entire career as a public servant, despite the fact that Phoenix and Tucson have been celebrating Juneteenth for over 30 years.

If elected, Sen. McCain, who &quot;flip-flopped&quot; on support for the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, and Gov. Palin, who has shown no public support for Juneteenth in Alaska beyond issuing an Alaskan Gubernatorial Proclamation required by law, may continue the policies of President Bush by never issuing a Presidential Juneteenth Proclamation, personally acknowleging or hosting any Juneteenth Events at the White House.

Juneteenth is America’s 2nd Independence Day celebration. 29 states and the District of Columbia recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday or state holiday observance, as well as the Congress of the United States.

Together we will see Juneteenth become a national holiday in America!
