Obama's Oahu

Here's a little postcard on Obama's Oahu. It came out before I saw his schedule this ayem where he has a “Welcome to Hawaii” event tomorrow with Michelle at Keehi Beach Park -- that will probably replace the Magic Island rally mentioned in the Advertiser that I cite.

Following Obama on his way out to Hawaii are GOP press releases this morning citing the high cost of gas in the islands:

Chevron (Kuhio Highway, Princeville, Kaua'I, Hawaii): This gas station sells a gallon of regular unleaded at $4.78 a gallon. Also available: air for your tires, tire gauges to substitute for a comprehensive energy plan, including domestic exploration. Recent reports show Chevron contributing more to Senator Obama than Senator McCain.
Punahou School (1601 Punahou Street, Honolulu, Hawaii): Obama attended Punahou School, a coeducational college preparatory day school, from 1971 to 1979. The school campus covers 76 acres at the edge of the Manoa Valley.

As to the reports, I think it's safe to say that Obama has received more contributions from just about everybody, including those who work for oil and gas companies. And on the gas prices, they fail to mention that Hawaii, like Alaska, always has the highest gas prices in the nation because of the cost it takes to ship the gas thousands of miles out to the islands.
