Obama Channels Lennon
As I read, and then watched, Barack Obama's powerful and well-turned speech in Berlin, I couldn't help but wonder if the Senator and/or his speechwriter were consciously invoking John Lennon with the line (and title) "A World That Stands As One". My guess is not. But this verse from Imagine was the first thing that came to my head (and now won't leave):
You may say that I'm a dreamer /
But I'm not the only one /
I hope someday you'll join us /
And the world will be as one
