The First Lady Primary
I've been doing a lot of writing about the candidates' wives and have been struck by how, for both Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain, we know much more about things such as their hobbies and childhoods than we do about the way they think about the world or how they feel about politics. Beyond, you know, agreeing with their husbands.
I'm not recommending that we look at the office as a joint endeavor -- or that being First Lady is really anything like being president -- I just wonder if that will ever change.
FWIW, people do seem to want to know about these women. One a bit more than the other...
