Re: The Coolest Party...Still Lame

Well, if Karen can--so can I. The highlight for me was hanging with three members of the cast of The Wire--Sonja Sohn (Det. Kima Griggs), Jamie Hector (Marlo Stansfield) and Isiah Whitlock Jr. (Senator Clay Davis). All three talked about how tight the cast had gotten over the years; how much more interested in politics and urban issues they were now than when the show began. You'll soon see Jamie Hector playing the young Frederick Douglass in a PBS series. And Isiah promised me one of the Sen. Clay Davis "Sheeeeiii..." t-shirts that he's making. When we left the dinner for the after-parties, Sonja--whom my wife and I had met back in the days before The Wire--was noticed and applauded by the DC police who surrounded the hotel.

I've met more than a few celebrities who've disappointed--who weren't anywhere near as cool as the characters they played--but these actors were smart, fun and great company. I hate to see The Wire end, but it's nice to know that I can continue to be a shameless fan of the very best ensemble cast--and still without an emmy!--that I've ever seen on television.
