More Veepnesia

Everyone in the Republican party keeps picking running mates for John McCain as if he weren't, you know, John McCain. Especially forgetful are those who insist that the ideal VP for McCain would be Mitt Romney, though today's WSJ hedges by admitting he's the best pick "on paper." I think Romney's the best pick as well -- if you want to see the five Romney sons' pretty faces messed up a little; please try to imagine the first meeting between McCain's two sons, one currently in Iraq, the other soon to be on the way, and the Romney boys as they compare war stories: "Yeah, we saw some tough sh*t outside Des Moines, y'all."

There are other obstacles to a McCain-Romney ticket as well, like the fact that McCain can't stand the guy. And by "can't stand," I mean "has barely disguised contempt for." Esquire's Chris Jones has a fantastic piece up today reminding everyone of that.

Seriously, it's really good.

Oh and my VP pick: Pawlenty.
