Bill: Hillary Is the Change Candidate

Bill Clinton unveiled a new pitch to voters in Ames, IA, today, arguing that his wife has been a force for change throughout her life. The new theme comes as Hillary Clinton tries to steady her campaign and halt the surge -- in Iowa and elsewhere -- of Barack Obama, who has been selling himself as the candidate of change at a time when change is what Democratic voters seem to want. You know it's a watershed election cycle when the first woman to be a serious contender for president doesn't have de facto claim to the change mantle. "She's always been a change agent,” the former president said to a crowd of about 400 people at Iowa State University's Fisher Theater, according to the Des Moines Register. “It's one thing to have good intentions, another thing altogether to change the reality of people's lives.”

That last line was as close to attacking any of Hillary's opponents as Bill came. He actually praised them. According to people on Hillary's campaign, the former president has been urged to stay positive.
