Speaking of Obama's blue-collar appeal: I'm reminded of what a Dem consultant told me recently, "Post-Katrina, I only have one criteria for who I work for: Can he -- or she -- talk empathetically about class and poverty without a pollster in the room?" A notable failure on that front, the consultant told me, was Obama.
UPDATE: Just to be clear, this the opinion of a lone consultant, but it's someone who cares a lot about the issue and who has been around awhile, so I thought the observation worth noting. This character is not currently employed by any presidential campaign and may, in fact, "sit this one out."
