I agree with Mike's characterization of this admin as being "comically mendacious," and with the idea that just because something is absurd doesn't mean it's not serious. But I've got to quibble with this assertion that the bad actors in this case should be held to account by "electoral politics -- punish liars by voting against them." You see, by that standard, they've already been punished. Democratic Congress, hello? One of the reasons voters against the GOP in 2006 was corruption, and one of the consequences of corruption is oversight. Being pushed out of power was their punishment, their sentence is having to be held accountable.
